Department of Pulmonology

The department of pulmonology & respiratory medicine is equipped with the most upgraded OLYMPUS video Bronchoscopy that has all facilities for endobronchial disease and narrow band imaging. The department also has a Zero Tip Airway Retrieval Basket, Radio Jaw 2.0, Trapezoid Basket, and Escape Basket.
The pulmonology Medicine set up at Dr. P.K. Saha Hospital also boasts of a separate pulmonary physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit, which is the first of its kind in Cooch Behar. The department is supported by ICU setups, Bronchoscopy suits, the Cathlab, the Radiology unit, and the emergency trauma care team.
Bronchoscopies procedures like Endobronchial Biopsy, Brush Biopsy, Lower respiratory sample collection, Endobronchial Management of Hemoptysis (Blood and cough), relieving airway obstruction and atelectasis are done routinely with a high degree of accuracy and safety. Evaluation of non-resolving pneumonia, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, drug-resistant tuberculosis are all common indications for bronchoscopy.

Doctor –Dr. Dwaipayan Ghosh
DTCD, DNB Respiratory Medicine, FCCS (USA), FICM.
Dr. Dwaipayan Ghosh completed his DNB in Respiratory Medicine in 2022 from Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine, Delhi.

He completed his MBBS in the year of 2012 from Midnapore Govt. College, West Bengal University of Health Sciences).

He has a fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine in 2014 from Apollo Hospital Hyderabad.

He completed Post Graduation Diploma in TB & Chest Diseases) from medical college, Kolkata (MCH).

He completed a Secondary DNB Respiratory Medicine from Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine, Delhi. Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine is one of the leading pulmonary institutes in New Delhi.

He was working as Associate Consultant Critical Care at MSG Super-speciality Hospital, New Delhi before shifting to Cooch Behar.

He joined us on 21/01/2023. He started the first Bronchoscopy Setup of Coochbehar in our hospital and has started an array of investigations for diagnosing various pulmonary disorders, including sophisticated pulmonary function tests.
